Auto Express Car Reviews

20th November 2008

With green very much the theme at this year’s LA show, even more eco-driving gadgets emerged from its stands.

Following in the footsteps of Fiat’s EcoDrive system, reviewed recently on the 500, two more manufacturers have now launched similar systems.

The dashboard device on Honda’s next generation Insight not only collects data on driving style, its gives instant feedback too! The Eco Assist System features a gauge sporting leaf symbols, which illuminate to show just how green their driving is. An economy button will also remap the ECU for an even more frugal drive.

Ford has launched a similar system to the Eco Assist on its forthcoming Fusion. Its SmartGauge with EcoDrive tells owners how to get the most miles out of their hybrid.
